We purchased this shredder to use in a small business and wanted the ability to shred single CDs and credit cards plus staples (on occasion). Mostly, we wanted it for a paper shredder that did 12 pages at a time and was reliable. The project we had - a large amount of paper/staple shredding, was the first and we sat someone next to the machine and he'd occasionally stuff some papers in while working. After an hour, the machine overheated. We read the paper and it said "let it cool down for 20 minutes." We did; tried to shred again and it continually overheated and stopped. We had it less than 2 days and returned it; have not replaced it. Apparently, we need a business quality shredder but everything we did was well within the guidelines of what this machine purported to do. Very disappointing. Probably good if you shred a few papers once a day.

It is ridiculously hard to open the basket. I finally discovered that the basket will come out only if you turn the entire unit on its back and bang it against the floor.

I read lots of reviews of various shredders, including the hint for this one that a knife point in the upper rt or lf corner of the basket will loosen it enough to withdraw the basket from the shredder, and am very satisfied that this shredder will not breakdown or wear out any time soon. Very good price, doubles as a lamp stand in a pinch! Husband says we have the Cadillac of shredders. And we do.

Our Purchaser bought this piece of junk for our office. The previous reviewers must have stock in the Aurora Company.
When it says 12 sheets max. it means per day.
Don't try a credit card if you expect to make your 12 sheets a day quota.
As stated earlier the shredder(or shall we call it "The unable to shred") has "No practical application".
If I was offered the Aurora for free I would still say it is way overpriced.

Used this to destroy years of built up docs. Had to let it cool down a couple of times, but it came right back and keeps going.
