Received a defective shredder out of the box, the shredder is obviously been used as there are still some papers jammed on the blade although the seller, amit16, claims the shredder is "brand new"! HUH? If you want to waste $10 to buy a trash can and a big trash, go ahead! OR You can also pay $10 to ship the defective unit back to get your $4 refund if you are such bad luck like me. You can not even fold the paper in half and try to run it through, because then it would be like trying to run two (2) sheets through it at once... It must be ONE (1) sheet at a time! If you try to run two sheets of paper through it at the same time, it slows down "SeVeReLy" and gets stuck/jammed. TOTALLY forget about trying to shred three (3) sheets at once, it will become hopelessly jammed. Another thing, this item is sssoo SLOWWW. Even with shredding one sheet of paper, it takes forever! Once it has shredded something, the shredded paper is cut in such large strips that you can still "EASILY" read whatever is printed on them! This is due to the fact that the paper is cut horitizontally along the printing. It is not cut vertically. If you want to shred the paper vertically, you must tear it in half so it fits in the slot then feed it through (one piece at a time!) from top to bottom, but even then you can still read the printing on the strips, but of course it doesn't make as much sense reading it this way. If you need a shredder, invest a little more and buy one that is going to actually do a decent and fast job!

If you want something that actually obscures information, don't bother with this. It basically cuts paper into 1/4 inch strips, and obviously that can easily be pieced back together. Go for a shredder that tears up the strips as it's cutting them. This is too expensive for what it does... on the bright side, it is about the right size that a standard grocery bag can be used to catch waste in the basket.

I'm an artist used needed a linear, not diamond, shredder to elegantly destroy massive art history books through as well as 25 years of photographic negatives and prints. At this price, I figured that, even if I burnt out the motor or destroyed the blades early on, I'd still get my money's worth, but it powered through some serious tasks it wasn't desired for. Had to let it rest 2 times after an hour + of shredding sections of a 1500 page book, but the motor started up the next day. Have recommended it to others. Wish the feed slot were a little large and that it had guides for small thin items (negatives were fed through the credit card center area).

I have another heavy duty paper shredder and was looking for something I could use to just shred cds/dvds and the occasional credit card. This was not the answer. It's really a shredder that is meant for very, very light use. It is absolutely useless for CD/Credit Cards as the teeth give up the ghost pretty fast. It's not even that great for paper. You're much better off spending a little more money rather than going on the cheap with this shredder, it just doesn't do the job.

After owning this shredder, and reading some negative reviews, I have a feeling that many people just don't think before they either buying this shredder, or put in what it can't handle (unless they truly did get a dud, which I'm guessing is rare). I bought it with the intention of only shredding junk mail and any documents with personal information, and it's been great! If you try to put in too much, I can see it maybe struggling, so I've never tried that. I never recycle nor throw away my address, so I always tear those off. When they pile up, I shred a small pile, maybe 6-10, and it can easily handle that load.



I've accidentally put in staples and it handles them just fine. Credit cards do take just a little more effort, but it get the job done just fine. To people who say you shred it and the entire number is on the shredded remains, just turn it horizontally and that problem is fixed!



This machine is more basic, but it's not rocket science to know that you can't overload it. I've never tried more than 6 pages, and it can handle that amount alright, but I'd say that should be the limit to be safe.



It does cut in long 1/4 inch strips, which is not secure, so that's why I'm selling this one and buying a confetti one. However, the person who is buying this one will be lucky, because it gets the job done on simple shredding jobs!

it is only for home use, sometimes it stops working if you put all the 8 sheet of paper, you can only use at least 4 sheets at a time but it is not a bad product, if you want to secure your information this will just work fine.

Can't beat it for the price. It takes stacks of paper quickly and smoothly (my old shredder said it could handle 5 sheets but would sound as if it was dying while shreddeing the shirt stack). I've been using it in a home office for about 1 month and I'm very happy with the purchase.
