The shredder does a good job of destroying the paper fed into it, but I have difficulty feeding paper into the machine. If the paper is not very stiff, it does not go into the slot far enough for the feed mechanism to pull it in. The paper just sits there and bends while the machine runs waiting for something to cut. Why is it so difficult to reach the feed mechanism?

I purchased this product as a used, but "in perfect working ordr. As soon as I used it the first time, I saw that this machine could not shred toilet paper. It jamed with every attempt I tried. It was apparently not in " WORKING ORDER ". I took this machine out to the garbage within 5 days of frustration.

This is a piece of garbage. It jams even if you try to shred only one sheet of paper the size of a CHECK at a time!



DO NOT BUY!! you'd just be throwing your money down the tube.



It is literally faster to cut up your waste paper with a pair of scissors than to spend time trying to un-jam this piece of garbage.



PS I didn't buy this from Amazon. I have never been dissatisfied with anything I have purchased from Amazon.

I bought this shredder for home use-- for junk mail, receipts, etc. It performs exactly as advertised, although it chugs along with 6 pieces of paper, so I usually stick to 3 at a time. The cross-cut makes it pretty much impossible to paste things back together. It also does credit cards. Would be nice if it does CDs/DVDs, but still a great paper shredder for the price. It has a nice safety guard too, which keeps my toddler's fingers out of it! Overall, a nice home office shredder!

I've been using this shredder for about a year and its handled all my home shredding needs easily. It's not a high volume shredder: it's intended for shredding a few pages at a time not a ton all at once. I've experienced non of the problems reported by several other reviewers; my unit detects sheets of paper just fine and shreds them quickly and efficiently. This guy is fairly noisy though, but that's pretty much par for the course with shredders.



If you want a quality home shredder, you could do a lot worse. If you plan on high volume shredding, get an industrial strength shredder.

The shredder seems to do the job, but it has a habit of not working when I flip the switch. I usually press reverse and then it starts to work. I oil it frequently, so I'm not sure what the problem is. It seems to do the job, and it's easy to tell when it is full.

I am extremely disappointed in this product after reading all of the prior reviews. The shredder would not grab and shred a sheet of 8 1/2" by 11" paper. When I called Aurora, I was told to try an opened Christmas card, which it took. I was also told to place some vegetable oil on the sensor, which I did. It still would not take the paper. I sent it back and received what I think is the same unit (since there were some paper shreds in the teeth of the shredder). To make a long story short, it still would not take a single sheet of paper. If you folded it in half, you had to push it into the feeder several times before it took the paper. I have called Aurora twice. Once no one returned my call. The second time I spoke with someone who took all the info to research what repairs may have been done, and I never heard back again.

After years of replacing shredders I'd say my expertise has increased. The Honeywell shredder has some good points - it's small, cuts quickly, and has a clear switch which is much easier than having to feed other papers in to clear a unit. However if paper is not fed straight it often cuts off, hence the NEED for a clear switch. I preferred the twenty buck sit on top of any bucket unit it replaced. You can get them at any local office supply store or discounter.
