THIS SHREDDER IS HORRIBLE AND TERRIBLE. STAY AWAY FROM IT. It stopped working the first day I used it out of the box. I called Royal and they told me they would send me another one. However,when I received the return slip, I had to pay to ship it too them. When I did receive my "so called" NEW ONE, it worked terrible, and it was used. The screws were loose, shredded paper was already in the teeth, and it cut off constantly. This is the worse shredder I have ever had. I am switching to fellowes shredders and give them a try. THE SHREDDER IS TERRIBLE AND ROYAL CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE.

We bought this shredder in place of an older shredder because this one could handle more pages and CD/credit cards. This model doesn't handle 11 sheets very well, overheats/shuts down often, and always makes a mess when emptying the basket. The safety bar on this shredder makes it difficult to shred papers that aren't 100% straight such as store receipts. I gave this unit a one-star rating only because the system wouldn't accept a zero-star rating. Don't buy this shredder. (I wish I had our old shredder back.)

This paper shredder is terrible! From the day I purchased it, almost every time I feed paper into it, it shuts itself down, and I have to turn it off and back on, sometimes several times, to get it to work. Then, after shredding less than enough to fill the basket, I have to open it up and pry all of the jammed paper from the blades before continuing. The cd shredder does not cut well at all, and I usually have to feed the cd or credit card through 2-3 times before it is cut at all. It only cuts the cd/credit card into two or three pieces rather than shredding it. (It would be better to just use your scissors for the same effect.) Whenever I empty the very small basket, I have to get out the broom and sweep the very large pile of bits of paper that fall out of the blades when I remove the basket. And forget about trying to feed 11 sheets through it at once! It can only handle 5-6 sheets without overheating and shutting down. I would definitely recommend looking for another shredder, as this is not worth the money you will pay for it!

This thing will take what you give it. It can do up to 11 sheets at a time without flinching, and has a special CD slot that will cut a cd into thirds. This also chomps up credit cards like they were butter. Small and compact, can fit under a desk, but enough capacity to shred many documents. My mother has had a very similar model for 3 years now, still just like new. Highly recommended. I got mine from a chain store for a really good deal. Look around, a good value.
