Unlike the toy shredders you see everywhere this one can handle everyday use in a busy accounting office. Some weeks we shred 3-4000 sheets of paper.
I did have a problem with the cutter seperators that Fellowes fixed after warranty period, for free. They tell me the new design of the cutters won't have the same problem and the replacement has been working perfect for over a year.

I've had this shredder in my office for a little over 2 years and it's way overdue for a replacement. There is a gap inbetween the collection bin and the holder it is in, so shreddings collect behind the bin until it pushes the bin out. Jamming is a problem and we don't feel comfortable feeding more than 3-4 sheets in at a time. When we first purchased this unit (a very long time ago), it was approved for CDs, now it apparently is not. Also this machine has starting making this loud grinding noise that almost hurts my ears when shredding papers.
We are purchasing the C-420C and hope that it will be a better preformer. I guess you get what you pay for!

WAY COOL SHREDDER!
Let me explain. I tried several "Staples" brand, micro cut shredders, and
was happy with the results, but very unhappy that they could not provide
continuous duty! I researched, even called Fellowes, about what they had
to offer, and this was the result: their C-120C "Binford 2000" cross cut
shredder.
The only complaint is the waste bin is attached to the door, and it is made out of cheap material, probably with slave labor.
Another issue is watch out who you tell. I told co-workers about getting this for my private use, and EVERYONE laughed at me! Scooter said he would use his cheap $20 dollar shredder until it started to smoke! Lizzie-Lou just sat there and smiled. Techno-Matt offered to shred ALL of my paper for my ENTIRE LIFE for $200.00; yet HE is the one who runs out and gets his little EYE-PHONE, EYE-MAC, DROBO (not yet), Hi-Tech-Bicycle (does he ride it?), etc., but that is another story. My "work-wife", Jen, remained in her cube, providing no feedback, but she is like a mercat on Mercat Manor...pipes up and chatters away when something interesting happens. Her real husband and I agree eye-to-eye, and that is get the best you can afford, and buy it ONCE!
Hopefully, this shredder is the answer to that mantra!
I will keep you posted as to its performance!

We've had this shredder for almost two years. After about 6 months, the red light would come on almost all the time, indicating bin full, even after cleaning out the machine very well. Called for service and the guy came out and replaced the sensors. Fixed that problem. But then it started squeeking and making an awful grinding noise. We would oil it regularly, but the noises would come back after a while. It sounded like nails on a chalkboard. I tried to get Fellowes to replace it, but they insisted on sending out service guys. After three service calls over several months, the problem just got worse. Finally, they agreed to send a new machine. It has a two year warranty, so there is plenty of time to find any problems.
The machine shreds very well, taking 15 sheets of paper without even slowing down, so it works great at what it is designed for. Customer service was always friendly when I called them. When I finally insisted on a replacement instead of another service call, they agreed with no arguements. They even paid to ship the old unit back.
From the other reviews, it seems this unit has some design flaws, so I would not recommend this model. It shreds very well, but the other problems make this just more trouble than it's worth. Find another more reliable model that won't take up so much of your time.

Works great! though says bin is full when there is still room for more shredding. Very good value for your money.
